The Wayward SnakeOne day, a man was walking through a dimly lit forest trail. Hiking through the woods, he was stricken by the beauty of the natural world around him. While observing his surroundings, the man neglected to keep his eyes on his own path, and nearly treaded upon a snake. The reptile intrigued the man, who paused his journey to observe the creature. The snake was green, perfectly camouflaged in the forest underbrush, yet it stood out on the trail. It sat completely motionless, seemingly unaware of the potential danger looming right above it.

Eve of Vitiation: Chapter 2Around half an hour after discovering the pile of metal that had once been one of his closest friends, the man arrived at his destination. In the side of a rocky outcrop, high above the forest, the mouth of a great cave gaped at the sky. This cave was the residence of a legendary beast, the last of a truly ancient race, and by far the deadliest of his kind. Fortunately, he was an old friend of the visitor, though it would take some explaining to clarify the situation.

As the cave lacked a doorbell, the man snatched the nearest rock and smashed it against the cave wall, sending a loud echo throughout the cavern. He expected an an Eve of Vitiation: Chapter 2

Eve of Vitiation: Chapter 1A storm raged in the darkness of the night. The wind tore across the humid landscape, trees waving as blades of grass in a field. Wave after wave broke from the sea, pounded the sand, then retreated, leaving behind various pieces of refuse in their wake. Among the chaos, a strange figure began to emerge from the sea. A small, rounded dome began to rise above the waves, a pair of neon green lights piercing through the darkness. As it continued to rise, scraps of seaweed were drooping from what appeared to be a face. Soon the head of the figure emerged, revealing a human skull, bright green lights emanating from its eye sockets, and a beard of Eve of Vitiation: Chapter 1

Eve of Vitiation: PrologueLooking up from the shoreline, it seemed as if one were drifting through space. Not a cloud in the sky, the moon was bright and full, and the stars were shining brightly. It was truly a beautiful night. Under the light of the moon, a young child had escaped the eyes of her parents. She had walked to the beach in the darkness, a habit she always seemed to have. The cool breeze from the sea, the dim, yet still visible, sight of the waves pounding the sand on the southern continent, and the feel of the wet sand on her feet always brought a profound happiness to her soul.

Daeva Suite I: Swan's FuneralI went to a funeral today. It was the funeral of a lady I did not know. She looked very pretty in her white casket and dress. She was so pale, and looked so frail. I almost thought that this was all a joke and she was made of something like porcelain. Her skin was so white, I know it's been said once before but it was like... I don't know, feathers of a beautiful swan... Yes, just like the beautiful feathers of a pure, simple swan. Her hair flowed so gorgeously, it was so long and it seemed to go all the way down her back. Her hair was so light; it was almost white as well. Her lips didn't have any colour to them either.
